101FC, version dite standard.

The 101 is a Land Rover with an forward driving position, FC standing for Forward Control. The driver is basicaly seating above front wheels. The wheelbase being 101", it gives the rest of its name.

Total length being 4,30 meters for a width of 1,8 meters and a hight of 2,1 meter gives the tone ! The weight of 1,9 tons as well. This vehicle is, as standard, fitted with the Rover v8 engine, 135bhp. Its 1st low gear is twice shorter than a common Land Rover.

The British army was in need of a tractor for the heavy gunmachine Howitzer, weighting 1,75 tons.

Will follow many versions of 101FC, like ambulance, radio or Vampire, which will serve, and still do, in the British army front line around the planet.

Of course, this small truch (much smaller than expected from a picture) is a great offroader with amazing front, rear and bottom angles. But its weight and height lead to be extremly careful when driving offroad. It seems to be possible to import 101FC in France (few have been seen with French plates) but this will be a challenge to go trough the French administration. The fact that some have already been imported should ease the process.

Ambulance versions are (too) often modified in camper versions during their civilian reconversion.
